In March 2021,Paula in the New York office canceled at my request,my American Express Gold Card . I addressed my reasons in a heads up letter on March 22, 2020 to Doug Buckmeister. Therein I stated I believed it was unconscionable and outrageous how AMEX had eroded the benefits of membership across their cards. And provided him with 7 bullet points. He ignored my request to respond with corrective actions to revisit these benefits, waive 2020 membership fees, lower interest rates, restore AMEX Cash and reinstate higher limits on Sign and Travel.


1) AMEX Travel insurance does not reimburse trip interruptions/cancellations due to coronavirus.



2) Express Cash from a linked bank account has been discontinued despite members own funds being available for transactions and replaced by cash advances to the card at usurious interest rates.



3) Unwarranted limits imposed on Sign and Travel after nearly five decades and > $500,000 of responsible memberships , outstanding credit worthiness/scores and no late payments.



4) Most airline/hotel partners no long accepting Membership rewards points.



5) Higher membership fees.



6) Non competitive interest rates compared with other forms of charge/credit cards



7). Offshore contractors servicing AMEX customer service.

American Express then solicited me to apply for the Delta SkyMiles Gold American Express Card.

During the pandemic Delta Airlines had distinguished itself as the best carrier experience and my first choice for airline travel. I applied in December 2020, and again in January 2021. The enclosed declination letters dated December 17,2020 and January 19, 2021 from the minions/gatekeepers at American Express are completely unwarranted given my 49 years of responsible American Express memberships and a 762 credit score in December 2020. This is not a request to reinstate my American Express Gold Card due to the a foregoing erosion of membership benefits. However I would appreciate your intervention in approving my Delta SkyMiles Gold American Express

Card before international travel reopens. Thank you.
