I am based out of NYC, and I have been a free agent for years now - have top published status with 2.5 airline program and second top published with another one.
I used to fly Delta exclusively (and US Airways before that, back when they were big at LGA). Now I am a semi-free agent and it has been working out great. Admittedly I did a couple of mileage runs on AS over the last couple of years and have MVP with them, but as of now I don't plan on requalifying next year (for 2023) unless work will pay for non-Saver fares. I thought it would be nice to have at least one status but it just hasn't paid off (luckily I am only out a few hundred bucks from the MRs).
