I am needing to fly OAX-DFW on 2/21/22 and the non-stop route to DFW is $375. However, if I book OAX-LAS (which has stops in DFW and CLT), the price is only $191. I know that airlines don't like people using "hidden city" routes but this is something I have never done before.

Since the only AA route from OAX is through DFW, there isn't a way that they could reroute me. And regarding the checked bag, couldn't I just pick up my bag in DFW before the customs area and leave the airport?
