I would agree with Cow on the 1A transition. Years ago, I had a whole argument with the YYC check-in agent (the last time I flew Y-Class on reward ticket) asking to get the number added and she 100% refused and told me she was not allowed. It went as far as me saying I knew the key strokes in Native - and she wanted nothing to do with it. This was on a flight where J was wide open and Y was oversold and I was the only one really with any status - so were trying to get op-uped . . . . This was June 2015. Even to get priority boarding - just pulled out my card and explained . . .
Since 1A transition - I have been amazed at how smooth it has been - - - it has a little bit to do with how the DCS (old) interacted with Res - and did not as precisely look to fare to determine if credits would be received. Now that it is very integrated - I expect points are awarded based all the way back to fare basis in the ticket coupon - thus there is no need to worry about a FQTV edit in DCS - as that will never result in points being given - whereas previously - - it was open to some problems.
Just add it at checkin - should work every time for sure now.
