Booked a Hyatt Prive rate for $219 before tax and I thought it was a good value for the stay.

Room wasn’t too over the top luxurious, but large. We were upgraded to a bay view room on the 7th floor (only Explorist so I wasn’t expecting much more). Everything about the room was great. There was a teen/young adult pageant happening in the hotel this weekend which I feel contributed to the noise levels in the hallways but it was a mostly quiet room.

With the Prive booking it included breakfast and $100 of property credit. The breakfast had a good variety, I liked the cheese and smoked salmon. One concern I had though is that none of the pastries were labeled and many of them had nuts, and it wasn’t obvious at all. I’m allergic to walnuts and pecans and it was kind of a guessing game as to which ones had nuts in them. We mentioned it to our server and he was apologetic but said since they bake the pastries each morning it would be too much work to make signs for each of them (?). Gluten free pastries were clearly labeled so I think it’s a pretty glaring issue, especially considering there were many kids eating during our stay.

We had lunch at Oystercatchers and dinner at the lobby restaurant. Oystercatchers was great, all of the food was excellent. Lunch portions very generous and still felt upscale—definitely work saving money over the pricey dinner menu IMO. The lobby restaurant was decent, about what you’d expect. We only went about $20 over the $100 credit and considering the quality of the food we were pleased.

Service from the desk staff was friendly, but not very personal (the hotel was very crowded this weekend though). Housekeeping was poor; at check in we were told there was daily housekeeping. After leaving the room for 5+ hours and our room was not cleaned, we texted the front desk and they said it would be taken care of. We left the room again for 3+ hours (came back a little before 6p) and it was not cleaned when we got back. I know most people here on FT don’t care about housekeeping but I do appreciate it on leisure trips and I was surprised it was not clean after the front desk said it would be.

No welcome amenity with the Prive booking, but all other benefits were honored perfectly.

Overall, this was a great stay. Although there were some issues, the property is beautiful and restful. Rooms are nice, public areas are great, but the grounds are the best part. It is isolated but for nature lovers it’s great. We walked over 5 miles on the adjacent causeway trail and the boardwalks and piers throughout the property were really relaxing. Fun for avgeeks too if you get a room facing the airport (or go up to the 14th floor meeting room across from Armani’s like I did). Perfect cool weather for the whole trip. Would definitely recommend.
What is the Hyatt Discoverist welcome amenity normally? I'm not aware of any published Hyatt welcome amenities in WOH, although HGP had a nice choice for Diamonds at some full service hotels.
