Wrapping up a quick stay here. I booked the cheapest room and got upgraded to a grand deluxe (nothing better was available . My friend (a credit card Bonvoy Gold) stayed in a superior room on a longer stay. He was on a higher floor and his room had a full sofa whereas mine only had an armchair with a footrest. We had a better view of Boston (back bay?) and he had a view of the hospital. He was with his GF and brought a dog. I think they paid extra for the rog. The staff sent up a dog bowl and a dog bed to them but it took like 1 hour. The dog bed was also dirty with hair in it so they bought their own at a nearby shop on Charles Street. Their room also had a leaking fridge which was pretty disgusting. They told the FDA about it but AFAIK, there wasn’t any service recovery.
Our room did not have any issues but overall was very old. It is clear these are not maintained well and this is not a property that handles its age well. Liberty’s hard product is not luxury by any standard IMO. The hotel was constantly packed with people and many people brought pets. Expect to hear a lot of barking. For me, this was a positive but I’m sure it will ignore some people.
For the BreakfastTalk people, the CLINK restaurant breakfast was excellent. It is a $28 per person credit for Platinum+ that includes taxes and gratuity innately. You can get salmon lox eggs Benedict on an anything bagel that is delicious. For an American hotel, I am pretty impressed with the hotel breakfast. The W Boston also has a great breakfast but I prefer this one by far.
Location-wise, I am a fan of the area. Some people will love it and some will hate it. I like Beacon Hill a lot and appreciate the proximity to Cambridge. There is a nice pick up/drop off location which makes calling Ubers a breeze.
Overall, this is a fine 4 star hotel. Nothing special but priced accordingly. It is definitely suitable for casual stays where you won’t spend too much time in the room.
