Recent experience especially after 1A transition, a couple partner I use to issue, the trick is to store the program with the *G into the record at the time of ticketing.
The tickets that I am currently dealing with are issued by Gol Smiles (127 stock), and I want to add my Turkish Airlines FF to them. Does this make a difference?
It does but only a tiny bit.
Since GOL has no partnership with TK, there was no way you could even try to add a TK number at time of ticketing.
You might need to wait until OLCI to add a TK number.
My recent data is
014 stock, AC flight, deducting Member A point, Member B Flying and Star number added,
No Problem
014 stock, Partner Flight, deducting Member A points, Member B Flying and Star number added,
No Problem
Other Airline stock, AC segment, deducting Member A points, Member A's Other Star Number,
No Problem
But it is easier to add a Different Star number at ticketing, because all the Star partners would recognize each others programs.
Unless it's a redemption nominee thing like SQ...
or in your spot, a Free Agent like GOL.
You are correct in the old days (2010-2016), agents were very reluctant to remove/change FFN on award tickets.
To the point I needed to make sure no number was added.
With that said, I cringe thinking about smiles.com.br, ugh....
