I think it is all very much straightforward: you got 14 days within witch you can cancel your test subscription without problems. Within this time span you should have communications from Handelsblatt regarding your miles, you may even phone them up and ask. If they fail to deliver anything written that confirms the booking (i.e. that you get your miles), I would probably cancel the whole thing.
As a side note: I remember seeing some posters in another thread complain about award availability, especially intercont. C awards on LH. This seems to somehow stand in striking contrast to what most of you are driving at when ordering huge amounts of subscriptions. Perhaps something worth to be kept in mind.
