Seriously though a major shout out for the ST reference.

The only way that comes to pass is f people start giving a collective hoot about the state of the place. With moves further and further out of the City, telecommuting, etc. the theater draw, the sightseeing draw, the shopping extravaganza, music shows, Italian food on Columbus, Fisherman's Wharf etc lose out and thing further scatter. This leaves room for the less than desirable element to move in and stay there. The outlying neighborhoods are really doing all the heavy lifting now for maintaining the character and vibe of the City. Get rid of the homeless in a positive California way that adds to their lives rather than subtracting from them and start being the culturally rich welcoming place for all ages that it once was.
