Dont forget IHG gave certs issued in 2020 an 18 months expiration dates. Those will not be extended.

Certs expiring in 2022 that are ssued in 2021 - they are extended to end of 2022. We saw our 2 eligible certs extended. Non-eligible certs in our accounts are those issued with 18 months expiration dates which range from Mar 2022 to Sept 2022 - they stay at their original expiration dates.

I used my uncapped cert in Paris in late October. Last week we used one cert expiring Dec 31, 2021 in each of our accounts.

If you are fully vaccinated and have a booster shot, I honestly dont see why you cannot safely travel / dine in restaurant.
Obviously, everybody has different degrees of comfort with regard to travel during a pandemic. Some have been traveling all along. Some haven't been comfortable until after vaccination or until after a booster. Some are still not comfortable - perhaps they are immunocompromised or they live with or care for others who are immunocompromised. Some are concerned that travel right now, in general, may worsen or prolong the pandemic. And some may be fundamentally willing to travel from the perspective of safety, but still may be concerned about the possibility of upcoming travel bans or simply of lockdowns that will make travel pointless.

One of my two expiring certificates dates back all the way to 2019. It wasn't a gift - I paid for it by means of an annual fee. It was originally set to expire in April 2020, and I was planning to use it in late March, but of course the pandemic came along and canceled those plans. Given my own personal circumstances and my own degree of risk tolerance, at this point I doubt it will make sense for me to travel before the end of the year. Why would IHG force me to travel during a pandemic in order to not forfeit the two certificates that I paid for? If nothing else, does IHG not realize the ill will that this will create?
