Quick Question about Global Re-entry application
I am in the process of renewing Global Entry and TSA pre-check since mine expired in 2020. I am almost done with the renewal application till I got stuck on the question "Have you ever been found in violation of customs laws?" I got stuck on how to respond because of what happened during my trip to South Korea in 2019. So I traveled from the US to Japan and South Korea. Sure enough when I was flying from South Korea to Japan for my layover back to the US, my backpack got flagged. It had a bullet in it that I had absolutely no idea was in there and the Seoul Incheon Airport security were asking me questions for maybe 10-15 minutes before we went to a side room. After 20-30 minutes of waiting, 2 guys from explosive and ordinance disposal came, saw the round, and threw it away. I signed a waiver (all I can remember from the waiver was writing my name, my address in the US, email address, phone number, and what caliber the round was. I was never told I could not re-enter the country and was not told that anything was going on my record). The airport security thought I was US military (I am not). I did not get flagged by security in the US or Japan, just Seoul Incheon Airport. For even more context, I have a weapons carry permit in the state I reside and used the same backpack for a hunting trip a few weeks before the trip to Japan and South Korea. Apparently I did not clean the bag as well as needed after getting done with the excursion.
Given the context, how should I handle the "Have you ever been found in violation of customs laws? us only?" question on the Global Re-Entry application and what do you think my chances are of renewing the TSA pre-check and Global Re-entry?
Thanks.
