I thought great as I am Five Star and I won't have to stand in line, but neither Hertz nor Hotwire will add my gold number to the booking. They both say the other one has to. No, it cannot be done. That's one of the downsides of opaque rates like Hotwire HotRates or Priceline Express Deals. Your status means nothing. You will not collect points. You will not skip the counter. You will not choose your own vehicle. You will get what you get, and not get upset.
But hey, you saved a few bucks!
