As to whether Gold is worth it, there's a thread for it. But the short answer is almost certainly yes if it's relatively easily obtainable.

The two biggies:
You get E+ at booking
You get *A lounge access for international travel
(both for you and a companion)

Forget upgrades - not even 1Ks are getting those too often . . . but the others are sizable benefits IMO.

ETA: I see you have club access - you could drop that and save ~$500; unless you use it domestically.
