If you go to Rewards, and then Rewards summary, you can see the bonus points that are posted and also see when they are taken away due to a refund/return. I've done quite a bit of airline and hotel changes and the extra points always get taken back. It might make a difference if the points are coming from American Express or another vendor. I've heard it's up to the store to request a clawback?
