I tried to make a Paypal purchase for $1800 today...have plenty of credit but my card was rejected. I call Amex and they tell me my card has a $1500 limit PER STATEMENT for Paypal transactions and no, they cannot pre-approve a larger transaction, and no they cannot make an exception....

I called back and got a supervisor to approve my $1800 purchase, but if I have to do that every time its not worth it.
