Finishing up my 2nd stay here this year, so thought I would update this thread. Overall, it is a great experience and definitely one of the best in the area. It is still two connected towers. The main one is 9 stories, while the newer spa tower is 6. The spa tower is definitely quieter, especially if there is an event in the atrium of the main tower. The spa tower will also likely be easier to park closer to the entrance. On the other end of the hotel is a convention center. Yesterday, they had a craft fair and it made parking a little tight, but we were able to park right by the spa tower entrance. The past two times we secured a corner suite and I would highly recommend them. They are larger and farther from the halls and the traffic. For the regular rooms, people can be feet away from you if you are siting on the couch.
We have done the spa the past two times, and it was exceptional. The staff there are beyond wonderful, and they provide the best service. We checked in online, but the wife likes a physical key for herself, so we we stopped. Had to remind them of my diamond status to get our welcome snacks, which were 2 water bottles and choice of candy bar for each. Breakfast was average for an ES. The omelets are great as are the potatoes. The biscuits are either well done or white. Yesterday was waffles and today French toast sticks, and both were floppy. The bacon, depending on piece, is about 3 different donenesses.
One disappointment is the manager's reception. A few months ago, they implemented a coupon system. When you check in, you are given a certain number of coupons and each drink uses one of the coupons. They are also only good for a few select beers, 2 different wines, and a few house liquors. The people at the bar can make some mixed drinks, as long as they use one of the house liquors and no other alcohol. Yesterday, Tequila Sunrises were popular. We talked with the bar manager on Friday and this is something that management has implemented and are strict about. They have fired quite a few people who were not strictly enforcing this. We were here this time for our anniversary, so we ended up with a few extra drinks from someone who didn't need them.
Overall, this is one of our favorite hotels when we want a weekend away, and already have three night retreat booked for February. One of our favorite things, is it is close to a lot of food and shopping.
