i took several flights during summer - every single time i had an empty middle so perhaps i am biased but it is manageable even on it's own (much better than for example air asia seats). On one occasion i paid extra $15 for a seat with more space as flight looked packed and it was smth like E+ on UA (maybe 34" pitch).
