Seriously - Iberia doesn't recognize the US as a country?

In September I booked award tickets for JFK-MAD-LIN and FCO-MAD-JFK for next year.

I saw that the website wouldn't let me book seats, so I called Iberia, but as others have reported, was unable to reach an agent after multiple calls. Then finally I was lucky enough to get through to an agent. But he said that he couldn't assign seats yet, and to try again in a couple of months.

So now it has been a couple of months. But before I went through the hassle of the Iberia phone experience, I decided to give their website one more try. And amazingly, it now allowed me to book seats for all the flights.

But it wouldn't be Iberia without some problem. Because when I tried fill out the passport info, I saw that the pull-down menus for country of residence and passport origin do not have the US listed as an option! Or America, or USA. They do however have the US Virgin Islands and American Samoa listed.

Oh, and they mis-spell Chile as "Chili". Unless that is the meal service!

Am I an idiot for missing something?
Should I just not try to input that information, and let the agent fill it in at the airport during check-in?
