Scott, I'm not sure if you're serious, but this came from Forbes FYI which is a supplement to the regular magazine. FYI is sort of like an Amex Departures-type magazine which tends to include a bit of irrelevant humor.
In this case, John Tierney (the author) is a fairly well known satirist in the US. He is good friends with Christopher Buckley, the editor of FYI, and the two of them wrote a book (a satire) about a monastery a few years ago.
