How can I file a formal complaint against a shady car rental vendor in Venice?
Last September, I had a profoundly negative experience with a crooked rental car company at the Venice Airport (Locauto). They falsely accused me of damaging the rims of my vehicle, something I later found was a very common tactic of theirs, according to their horrendous reviews on Google. I refused to sign off on their evaluation of the car when I returned it and several weeks later, I was greeted by a $300 charge on my Chase card for the supposed damage. Filed a dispute with Chase, which Chase upheld and credited me for the charge.
I thought I was in the clear until I noticed a new charge from Locauto, presumably in retaliation for the credit dispute. I was ready to let sleeping dogs lie, but in light of this new development, I'd like to pursue more formal options to fight back against these crooks.
Does anyone happen to know if Italy, or perhaps the region of Veneto, has something like a department of consumer affairs where I can report this company? I don't mind doing a little paperwork if necessary. This is purely on principle.
