Checking out a car on the Avis app but not picking it up right away LAX
I reserved a car at AVIS LAX a couple of months ago for Thanksgiving week using points to cover 3 days plus cash for the other 4 days. I did not prepay. My plans changed and I am now not arriving until 26 hours later than the time on the original reservation. Avis will only let me cancel and rebook at a MUCH higher rate plus the agents have said that I will also forfeit the points. To avoid that, can I check the car out / pay for it on the app when the car is available but not drive it off the lot until the next day? It seems like if it’s paid for then it’s mine? Or will they cancel my reservation regardless?
