On a tangential note, when using another programs FFN on an AA purchased ticket avoid being logged into your AAdvantage account when viewing or managing your ticket. AA site on a couple occasions has put my AA FFN in the ticket's record when changes to the ticket's itinerary occur, this is especially true when you've viewed or managed that ticket in the past when logged into your account and then later AA reservations agents make changes for you (like when your itinerary changes and you need to call to have them make changes).

You can also create a shortcut to manage your reservation using this URL: https://www.aa.com/reservation/view/...rip?firstName=<First Name>&lastName=<Last Name>&recordLocator=<AA Record Locator>

Or use the Manage trips / Check-in tab on AA's home page.

You will be able to select seats, order meals, etc. on the AA flights in your itinerary. No, your trip will not show up when logged in your AA account, and this is a good thing in the case of AA. If it does show up in your AA account be wary.

I have been crediting BAEC on my AA purchased tickets numerous times a year for the past 5+ years and this has occurred a couple times so I avoid viewing or managing my ticket when Logged into my AA account. I can tell if something is screwy with the FFN attached to my booking as it won't let me pick row 1 on BA's inter-Europe, which are set aside for BA Gold members. I'm lucky as my itineraries usually include CX flights, and if that is the case, one can go to CX's web site and use their Manage Your Trip with their record locator (different from AA's) and change the FFN and have your FFN applied to all segments of your trip. I have not found an easy way to change FFN on the AA, BA, IB or QF web sites; only CX. Sorry, I haven't used or had the need to check out the AS web site so can't help there.

Even when having AA CSRs change my FFN back to my BAEC number, they haven't always been successful as the FFN is in a couple places in your tickets record so whether it is updated correctly depends on how they change it. Someone else may have more insight on this. I always check my boarding pass to make sure my BAEC FFN is there. I've also heard that some people have had their flight post to their AAdvantage account even though their other FFN appears on the ticket. This was mentioned in another thread on this forum or possibly in the oneworld FT forum - sorry I don't have a link.

As you can see this is clear as mud, hence the reason I avoid being logged into my AA FF account when viewing or managing my tickets. Yes it is easier to book a ticket when logged into your AA account or to give the AA ticketing agent your AA FFN so you don't have to provided all your details, but I have found it's problematic. With the CX fix I am able to do that now when I book itineraries with AA that includes a CX flight. I do book flights on BA's web site from time to time for oneway, roundtrip, and award flights using BAEC Avios; but for the most part book US domestic oneway and roundtrips, and AA awards on AA.com and also book annual RTW trips using AA's RTW desk as they the best.

I hope something in this post is of help.
