Chase has been weird about this but there are plenty of data points online that match your experience.

Contrary to what is being said in this thread, you can get two chase Marriott cards through a MDD. However, you will only earn the SUB for one.

Also, while Chase usually will not approve you for a card if you are not eligible for the SUB, the Marriott 2 lane rule SUB disqualification does NOT disqualify from getting a Chase Marriott card without a SUB.
