Review of the Grand Hyatt Bangkok (November 2021)

It’s my second stay at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok this month. Got upgraded to a Grand suite both times (Globalist/Privé) and I would like to share my views about the hotel.

The Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok is very well located, close to the BTS stations Chit Lom and Ratchadamri as well as to Central World and other big shopping malls. There is a connection from the lower lobby through a small mall to the skywalk. That means, that you can walk to the BTS Chit Lom, Central World, Siam Paragon, Big C or the new Apple store without getting wet by rain or burned by the sun.

Most important basics for me at a hotel are the bed and the shower. Both are excellent at the Grand Hyatt Erawan. While I‘ve experienced excellent bed/mattresses at Hyatt hotels always, I can‘t tell the same about the shower facilities. At the Grand Hyatt Erawan I had a rainforest shower - with water coming our like rain in the rainforest - and an extra shower head, which can be used both at the same time.

My room was equipped with big tvs, a Nespresso coffee machine, mini bar and everything you need to prepare tea. It’s easy to control the ac and the light with the control devices. You find plenty of power sockets for your own electronic devices. If you draw the curtains, the room is really dark.

So far to the hotel‘s hardware. But more important for an excellent hotel is to provide an excellent service. Excellent service consists of a wide variety of services, the quality of the services and of the way the services are provided. First of all the Grand Hyatt Erawan provides all services of a luxury hotel. 24h in-room-dining, turndown service, limousine service, a couple of good restaurants and many more.

I‘ve found the quality of the services great as well. The in-room-dining was really good (I have tried a couple of Thai dishes). The breakfast offer is very good, including Asian breakfast meals. The housekeeping was without a flaw. Everything is clean and with the turndown service you can get fresh towels twice a day. The hotel limousines are luxury cars like S350. The Grand Hyatt Erawan has a famous night club with live music - Spasso -, which is closed right now due to anti-corona measurements.

I‘ve been one of the first visitors under the sandbox Bangkok program and I‘m reading reading the reports of other travelers here at FT and at other forums for frequent travelers. Form my point of view the Grand Hyatt Bangkok handled the new sandbox program in an excellent way. They‘ve adopted the sandbox program very fast, the communication was fast and very reliable and their premium packages was absolutely top notch. While guests at many other hotels had to stay in their room for eight hours or even until the next morning, I‘ve got my test results within an hour after getting in my room (officially it‘s up to two hours) and was free to go. You need to have a great service minded attitude to provide an excellent service like that.

I‘ve found that service minded attitude on other occasions as well. The breakfast for example was provided in a highly friendly and courteous way. That counts even more as the service in restaurants is often a weak spot in Thailand. At the Grand Hyatt Erawan they‘ve turned it to a strength. You've got to love what you do to do it that way. That's passion.

So you can see, that I was really impressed by the Grand Hyatt Erawan. I‘ve been at many 5 star hotels in Bangkok so far. Even much more expensive hotels don‘t offer a wider variety of services or a better quality of service, while most of the cheaper hotels offer less services and in a less excellent quality. From my point of view the Grand Hyatt Erawan offers one of the best value for money of all hotels in Bangkok.
