nexus offices opening anywhere are based on Canada’s whim

from February 2020 for about 6 to 8months I rescheduled for in office interviews four times (like every month or so) when I called into the American office they were saying it was all based on the Canadian side. They kept temporally closing their offices due to Covid. Then like the summer or fall is when they officially closed all offices for interviews.

never said anything on demand all I said was to do with Canadian politics/ethics/The way they do what they do.

Yes I did not mention air or water crossings to do with Nexus but it should’ve been more specific.
did not say that because I know renews are going on I know Nexus cards are being allowed to use at air border crossing etc.

this was just for brand new Application/people that have to do something in the office
on the Canadian nexus websites or the Canadian border guards websites. When they officially said that the offices are going to be closed/ they also posted they’re saying we advise you not to apply for a brand new Nexus card until Cove it is pretty much over/ when the boarder returns to normal levels.

I have been crossing the bc boarders since 1999 and for 17 months in 1999 crossed every weekend for 17 months. I’m not saying I’m any expert or anything but I am saying I do have experience at crossing the busy borders and have done it like 2 times a year and now we are going to do it a lot mores do to family situation and that’s why we wanted to get an access card to make it easier so can easily cross anytime of day .

last 3 times crossed and asked they said staff at boarder has been reduced because of Covid and because of their Threat to strike in August for better working conditions. So leas staff so less chanace to get COVID.

so from Canadian perspective The offices are not going to open up until the border situation normalizes.
sadly all of their legal explanations on their websites are very generic and open to interpretation on what the criteria is to open up their nexus offices.

so my main point was Canada is holding up the office interviews for nexus. Have not looked at new stories in the past week but about a week ago it said that the American side was talking with the Canadian government to get the office open/talk about when they would open. Included a lot of government officials from states along the borders.
