We concur that both LAX and Hilton LAX rentals are identical in terms of insurance cover (fully inclusive). LAX is just priced much higher for whatever reason. It's not that uncommon. Renting off-airport is definitely the smart move here. The deal is quite good considering it's over the Thanksgiving holiday and includes full insurance.

One recommendation is to price it out as a one-way rental for pickup at LAX Hilton HLE and return to LAX. This way you can take the free shuttle from the LAX lot as opposed to having to arrange your own transportation. You could probably hop on the Hilton airport shuttle, but it might be more efficient to return at the LAX airport Hertz location since the shuttles run very frequently from there.
