I also think boarding and deboarding, gate congestion is worse with widebodies. Add on top of that limited gates that can handle widebodies (I've missed a connection after landing early on a widebody at LAX since there were no widebody gates available).
Hmm, maybe I don't have as much experience as you, but I have had much more delays (of all types) with narrowbody flights. Not sure what the real stats are on this.
Boarding/deboarding is a lot easier IMO with two aisles than 1 and widebodies are much easier in terms of making your way to a bathroom. I find nothing more insufferable than boarding and deboarding an oasis 738 or walking down the length of the plane to wait in the aisle next to people in row 30 something to use the restroom.
Of course, the nicest thing is PE seats for elites (sold as MCE), so you aren't just relying on an upgrade to be comfortable. For that reason alone, I will choose a widebody flight even at a less convenient time.
But I don't have much hope -- as borders and international flying go back up, I imagine most widebodies will be going back to international service and the only intercontinental domestic widebody flights will be for positioning and hub to hub hops that the int'l scheduling allows. AA will likely go back to prioritizing frequency.
