Welcome to the world of HIPAA. Also, there are patients (more than you'd expect) that demand that their pharmacist NOT release information to their medical providers- usually this has to do with patients not wanting their doctors to know that they're doctor-shopping for pain meds, or not wanting anyone to know that they're taking medication for depression, anxiety, ED, herpes, whatever. You'd think that people would understand that, in order to optimize medication usage and avoid drug interactions, it's in everyone's best interest to know what drugs they're on, but that is not always the case. And the minimum fine for a willful HIPAA violation is $25,000, so the pharmacist is probably not going to bend the rules just for you.
