The only recourse for LH and ANA would be to the leave the alliance (and I still think they don't care or would mess with UA). I think the European flag carriers would highly object to LH joining either Oneworld or Skyteam. I think Skyteam could make a pitch to ANA - but I personally think ANA likes the traffic they get from the UA hubs versus what they would get from Delta hubs.
I would assume that on routes for which LH and NH JV with UA they have certain terms regarding service offerings. Put differently, I don’t think in a pandemicless world the agreement between the carriers would ever have permitted the Polaris offering we see today.
