I got my personal card back in 9/17. I noticed that my AF posted. I was hanging onto this card because of the reduced mileage benefit, which is now gone. I also have the biz version (which also renews this month). I've wanted to try churning this card (since it's so easy). I don't see myself flying AA anytime soon, so I don't need the luggage benefit right now.

1- Has anyone gotten a retention offer? Though I'm leaning towards closing so I can churn.
2- If I do try churning I know DPs are all over the place. But do they go by open date? Or closing? I know I closed a Chase IHG card that was 30 mos old, and was able to turn around and get a new one a month later because of the 24 mos rule from opening.

It might all be moot as I'm 4/24 right now, looking to maybe MDD to when I decide to go over. So I might be waiting for awhile anyways before I try churning.
