I usually load my Ipad with films and UK TV that I want to watch - rather than whatever someone else thinks that I should watch. I load one for my husband as well with intellectually Art House stuff such as Avengers, Harry Potter, Guardians of the Galaxy or anything fit for the adolescence that he never discarded.
It was an Apple iOS / iPad OS bug with DRM - it was an OS fix that has been applied in 15.1 - YMMV - just in case have fallback content
