SQ use a 773 for SIN-CHC, dunno what SIN-AKL is. However they have a 34" seat pitch. I cannot imagine NZ having a greater pitch than this. Also, these ultra-long haul flights are when IFE comes in most handy. I dunno if I could bare stretching my neck to look at the overhead screen for the whole flight. This factor alone convinces me to fly SQ. I don't like the NZ routing over the US either. Although the South Pacific Islands may be worth it!
Has anyone directly compared SQs 777 seats vs NZs 747 seats?
SQ seats in Y are much less comfortable than NZ IMHO. Of course SQ IFE is streets ahead of NZ (at least until the refurbishment).
SIN-AKL route is served by 2-class 777 (5 X weekly) and 3-class 747 (daily). SIN-CHC is served by 2-class 777 only (now or soon to be 7 x weekly).
