I've just booked RJ for an upcomming flight; partly because BA isn't operating on the days I need, and partly because the idea of CE (and certainly ET) on 5hrs does not appeal. Really don't know what BA are thinking. How can the operate the (fractionally shorter) TLV route with a long-haul config (seating and service), and deem it OK to do Amman short haul? They had a few options and they have chosen the worse.
1. Short haul aircraft (which they are doing)
2. Short haul aircraft with long-haul seating (mid-haul; with enough similar routes to make this work for many years)
3. Tack on flight from Tel Aviv - yes it would take longer but I would take an extra half hour in CW or PE than ET.
4. codeshare/JV with RJ who offer a long-haul product and drop Amman on BA metal. RJ are having significant financial challenges and I'm sure would welcome the extra business and stability of BA connections/feeds.

I also object to the reduced tier points on offer. Just because I'm spending less doesn't mean I can add in another flight to make up the missed tier points - time (and covid testing) just doesn't permit. For mid-price economy I loose 15TPs each way, and for Club its 60.... And the status thresholds are the same.... go figure.

Where possible on my not-infrequent TLV and AMM combined trips I will now fly BA outbound and RJ Business (if self-upgrade is reasonable cost) inbound. Lost customer to BA. I appreciate that those with connecting flights e.g. TATL won't have this choice to sub in RJ, but then they can do the whole trip with QR instead.
