They are likely to have a problem. It would be fine in a country which doesn't need everyone's ID to check in.

I'm not sure why you are having trouble calling. But you will have to call again and speak to an agent who is based in the US. Agents based elsewhere are unable to change the main guest name on the reservation in my experience.
