Would it make sense to book Wednesday night (and message hotel so I don't lose my room) or just chance it and book starting Thursday? (I don't plan to check bags, but I'm sure customs will still take some time especially with COVID regulations).
(I've done the night before booking a couple of times--Dublin, and Paris, though Dublin, despite messaging the hotel, almost gave away my room. Worked out perfectly in Paris. But I also stayed there longer than I'll be staying at the Marriott. Right now, I would only need to stay Thursday, and Wednesday is a more expensive night than Thursday. Just wrestling with if it makes sense this time). Thanks.
My success rate has been around 80% when arriving at the hotel around 10am. Check
my stuff at the hotel and then walk around a bit and maybe grab an early lunch. Get back to hotel about noon and ask again. If not ready, find the most obvious place to wait in full view of the front desk. Out of site, out of mind. As soon as see someone check in and get a room, go back up. I don’t think I’ve ever had to wait till the official time.
