As I noted a few months back (post #635), I got the annual fee waived last year after I called to close the account. It appears to have been inadvertent on Barclays’ part—the CSR offered me zilch & I instructed him to close the card, which didn’t actually happen—so this probably isn’t a good indicator unless you get the same inept CSR.
