What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Quick efficient check in.
Room was very quiet.
Bad:
Front Desk Associate was pushing the on property Houlihan's restaurant including %10 discount for members. Ironically, as I discovered the next morning, it was closed for dinner the previous night due to staffing issues and breakfast service wasn't starting until 8AM. I was looking to get an early start before heading into Shenandoah National Park for hiking, so I ate breakfast at the Cracker Barrel a mile down the road instead.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Points cost per night was relatively high 32,000 (vs. 17,500 at the nearby Marriott Townplace Suites for the same night). I had a Chase Free Night I wanted to use up, so worked out okay. At the end of my trip I stayed at the TownPlace Suites, only 12,500 points that night think the Holiday Inn would have been 24,000, and it is a newer nicer property. While it doesn't have a full service restaurant, it is in a shopping complex with many food options available and does include a basic continental breakfast (on par with HIX breakfast). Unless I have more Chase Free Nights I want to burn, will most likely stay at the TownPlace Suites when back in the area.
