I'd say with 99% certainty they will not comp you the upgrade retroactively.
To my knowledge, even as Globablist there are no upgrade entitlements at this property, though I think it is likely that if you arrive and there is availability when you arrive, they would offer you an upgrade.
Your options are to cancel the paid upgrade and hope they upgrade you when you arrive, or keep it. Personally I would keep the paid upgrade to have it secured. When I was Diamond they upgraded my nights at the Park Villa to a Park Pool Villa, but I still paid for the upgrade to the Water Villa. You might get the other portion of your stay upgraded still (if you even want that).
