The Railway Labor Act prohibits any sort of "job action" without following the prescribed process. The idea behind this was to limit potential damage to interstate commerce. But this requirement is frustrating to some millitant union members, who usually are not aware of the potential consequences of a "sick out".
Refusing overtime is not a sick out. Seniority and collective bargaining agreements pertain. A
