United Airlines doesn't require covid testing. The destination you're flying to may. UA won't let you board unless you can satisfy the rules of the destination.
I believe Hawaii was one that initially had a very limited list of acceptable testing locations, which United had to enforce. This has changed somewhat but it is the destination that dictates acceptable lab testing locations, if any.
