PSA: I signed up for Hulu from an email that I used for many years. Within days that email became targeted by every spammer imaginable. Hulu has a page mandated by California, that provides an option to wipe the account clean (as if it didn't exist), and forbid the sale of personal info. I tried those remedies, and will soon find out if the damage can be reversed. Folks who still want to sign up with Hulu, better not give them an email that you want to keep.
Update on the Hulu-related spam:
For the first week after wiping my system free of Hulu and applying the California-mandated remedy, the stream of spam continued unabated. After a week though, it started to slow down, then stopped completely. I'm now cautiously optimistic that my important email address is saved. Thank you, California bureaucrats!
