when you purchase a gift card to be used with Amazon, a voucher to be exchanged with a massage, a subscription to the gym you basically have in your hands that company funny money.
Is this a good reason to expect or accept a sub standard service?
I would be mad at Amazon if they send me defective products because I’m paying it with their funny money gift cards
I would be mad at the massage place if they keep cancelling my wife treatment as she’s on a voucher that had been paid for already
I would be mad at the gym if they kick me out to make space for a single entry customer who’s bringing in incremental revenues versus me that is paying anyway the monthly fee and have their funny money card in my hands

It's your typical Hongkie business. Customer unfriendly. Why do you think us locals escape to Japan to shop when we could have? It's not necessarily because the price is cheaper.
(You mentioned Amazon) Apple HK this Friday started dishonouring (without notice, but in reliance of a Gift Card T&C change published June 2020) payment of iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPad mini 6

Just shows how far you can go with funny money in Hong Kong. Perhaps I shouldn’t tag CX for being a Hongkie company, US companies in Hong Kong are behaving in the same way.
