I would pay close attention to whether the valet staff and shuttle drivers are wearing masks while you're there. if not, please speak up to the management.

highly recommend Campfire restaurant in Carlsbad, which is about 15 minutes from the resort. It's sister restaurant to Jeune et Jolie, which recently got a michelin star. the head chef behind both, Eric Bost, had a restaurant in LA, called Auburn, that closed during the pandemic, and is sorely missed. Splitting the ambitions behind Auburn into a high-end prix-fixe option in Jeune et Jolie, and a more casual a la carte option in Campfire, seems to work even better. among other things, Campfire has ample outdoor seating, and a smartly conceived kids menu. the one thing that made us want to go back to the Aviara was so that we could be closer to and go to Campfire again. reservations would be recommended.
