In my little world I offset the travel I do, I question the need for trips (for business I don't go if I don't think they add value, and for personal reason I try and limit them at one every other month) and travel in non-premium cabins (that's easy!).

APD is not in any way a hypothecated tax - revenues go to the exchequer and so fund state pensions, prisons and importers of PPE.
The green-washing was a recent embellishment. The duty's only green credential is as a very weak disincentive to travel, an ineffectual drag on air transport. But at £4 billion a year it's a nice little earner.
