JNB has an immigration and security check for international transit, but it’s always been nearly empty when I go through and takes five mins.
This is most certainly not always the case. I've been stuck there for nearly 2 hours multiple times as just a single agent tries to process multiple flights worth of passengers. It used to be especially bad around 3pm on weekends.
