I have never downloaded the Chase mobile app, so I haven't turned on any notification alert there.

Not even then. I got the email and checked my credit card activity at the Chase web site a few days later and the credit hadn't posted, so I reread the email. It said that the credit would post within 7-14 days, presumably from the date of the email, so that could be almost three weeks after the triggering transaction.
