Yup, my experience as well that one should not expect any more than the most basic of services. Room was clean and functional and to be fair we scored a one category upgrade (so we were told), but aside from that everything else was just about okay. Nothing was terrible for us, but also nothing was great and efforts to please guests were kept to the bare minimum

. It was good value on a redemption (think 30k or 35k points per night back in the days without dynamic pricing points roulette) and primarily chosen for location. YMMV.
