Often UPS leaves the packages just next to my mail box at the main road, and sometimes a neighbour comes over and brings it in when they collected their mail. The only time I was a bit concerned was when UPS decided it was a great idea to put my new MacBook Pro and the 27" Eizo in my drive way.... in pouring rain. I called in and since then never again... now they just deposit everything in my garage or barn.
The municipality I used to live has about 15000. It's not like HAM or even Malmo. Now we are living in a similar size town in DK, we were able to leave an on-loan locked electric bike in our garden, this is something I would never do in Sweden.

At least UPS put your stuff instead of tossing it into your driveway (saw a video on YouTube about how UPS guys toss a TV into a front porch in the US).
