2% Showdown (Venture vs DoubleCash+Premier)

Hi all,

So I'm currently about 10 CC's deep but will probably pull back my credit cards probably in the next 2 years or so, assuming I end up settling down. I imagine I won't have as much flexibility to travel and play the points game then.

Current line-up: (statuses on my profile too)
Amex Platinum and Gold
Hilton Aspire
CSR (I really want to get rid of this but the rental insurance is clutch, and its PP access is good out of seatac since centurion is always reliably packed)
Freedom Unlimited
SWA Premier (will dc/downgrade if possible-i hardly fly WN anymore)
UA Explorer (will downgrade soon to travelbank)
AS Mileage Card
Asiana Card (will dc)
BOA 3/2/1 card

So here's my question. I'm realizing I'm leaving a crapton of potential points on the table. I realized I spend a fair amount of money that doesn't fit any of the categories (everyday spend). I can use the Freedom unlimited but thats 1.5x which is alright. I saw capital one venture being 2ps/dollar (2%), and citi double cash as well (2%), and heard you can link up citi double cash with the citi premier to convert the cash back into points. So essentially, I'm asking between Capital One Venture and Citi Double Cash+Premier, which would you rather take? I feel the playing field is pretty even looking at transfer partners with aeroplan being the only major differentiating factor.

Other personal thoughts:
-Maybe a mastercard is a good thing to have? (since i have none)
-2% back is useful for costco and amazon seeing I have neither of those cards and I spend a decent amount on them (although costco doesn't take mastercard)
-I'm nearly tapped out on 5/24-currently 4/24, and I can apply late January. (although neither is a chase card so thats moot). Curious to see what the aeroplan card will be though!
-Considered chase ink and amex business cards for 2% but i'm a w2 and too much of a wussie to deal with declaring a business, etc.
-going all in the citi ecosystem might not be bad for the long haul because those two cards can cover a lot of ground: airfare, supermarket, hotels, restaurants, gas, and 2% back on all other spending, with two cards. (I'm tempted to think amex might not be as worth it in a couple years bc i'll be settled and/or changes to centurion access, etc will be more restricted, and amex is starting to feel like a coupon card)

So honestly, I can't decide. venture is nice because its 2% across the board, but citi has a simpler 2-card ecosystem, but the downsides are that its mastercard, and might consider the aeroplan card later. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thank you!
