Unprotected connect - what is a reasonable layover/transit duration

Hello
I have an unprotected connection (two separate bookings), and have a 4 hour layover. I very rarely, if ever, do this, however the cash saving was substantial.
BA outbound from LHR connecting on to a Finnair longhaul from Stockholm.

Ordinarily a 4 hour layover should be fine, and the small print of my travel insurance covers me for up to £1000 for disruption as a result of “a delay or cancellation of scheduled public transport services or a connecting flight” however I wondered if anyone has any experience with what is deemed as a sufficient layover (eg minimum connection time acceptable) being acceptable?
